If successfully exploited, this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code.","clean_desc":"BrightStor ARCserve Backup is a backup and data retention tool that integrates with other BrightStor Data Availability and BrightStor Storage Management solutions. The Tape Engine features allow BrightStor ARCserve Backup products to use tape drives for storage. According to a report from Zero Day Initiative, the BrightStor ARCserve Backup Tape Engine contains a vulnerability that is caused by directly calling user supplied data in the RPC request. This vulnerability may be exploited by sending a specially crafted RPC request to port 6502/tcp on a vulnerable system. Note that the vulnerable software may be running on any machines that have BrightStor ARCserve Backup products installed.","impact":"A remote, unauthenticated attacker may be able to execute arbitrary code.","resolution":"Upgrade\nComputer Associates has released updates to address this vulnerability.","workarounds":"Restrict Access Restricting access to port 6502/tcp at the network perimeter may mitigate this vulnerability.","sysaffected":"","thanks":"This issue was publicly reported by the \nZero Day Initiative\n, who in turn credit LSsecurity","author":"This document was written by Ryan Giobbi.","public":["http://supportconnectw.ca.com/public/storage/infodocs/babimpsec-notice.asp","http://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-07-002.html","http://secunia.com/advisories/23648/"],"cveids":["CVE-2007-0168"],"certadvisory":"","uscerttechnicalalert":null,"datecreated":"2007-01-11T20:04:10Z","publicdate":"2007-01-11T00:00:00Z","datefirstpublished":"2007-01-12T19:26:02Z","dateupdated":"2007-01-12T21:20:47Z","revision":18,"vrda_d1_directreport":"0","vrda_d1_population":"2","vrda_d1_impact":"4","cam_widelyknown":"14","cam_exploitation":"0","cam_internetinfrastructure":"8","cam_population":"10","cam_impact":"8","cam_easeofexploitation":"5","cam_attackeraccessrequired":"10","cam_scorecurrent":"1.65","cam_scorecurrentwidelyknown":"2.1","cam_scorecurrentwidelyknownexploited":"3.6","ipprotocol":"","cvss_accessvector":"","cvss_accesscomplexity":"","cvss_authentication":null,"cvss_confidentialityimpact":"","cvss_integrityimpact":"","cvss_availabilityimpact":"","cvss_exploitablity":null,"cvss_remediationlevel":"","cvss_reportconfidence":"","cvss_collateraldamagepotential":"","cvss_targetdistribution":"","cvss_securityrequirementscr":"","cvss_securityrequirementsir":"","cvss_securityrequirementsar":"","cvss_basescore":"","cvss_basevector":"","cvss_temporalscore":"","cvss_environmentalscore":"","cvss_environmentalvector":"","metric":1.65,"vulnote":null}
